for lizzy: it's not really goodbye if you don't mean it

by Caligula's Launderette

one of my best friends is moving to San Francisco on the 10th, this was inspired by what we've shared. ahh the formating again is screwed up. ahh well. enjoy anyway.

CL

for lizzy: it's not really goodbye if you don't mean it

so i’m walking along
with you
and somewhere in between
he was brutally raped in prison
and joe, joe I gotta go to the bathroom
we found something in common

something more in common
that all the rest:
the favorite movies,
the music,
and weird pseudo-mideast northwest
mind-fuck philosophies

you always acted
so much older
around me
or so I thought
(your mother never believed that)
and half because you got stuck in the barrio
not that it was your fault
but she still found her love in holding you still

but for us
we found that common ground
common ground
that between two friends
is fought over
so many times
it seemed endless: a trench war
into the fading night
sometimes took on hues of Napoleonic reminders
of red, white, and blue: not necessarily in that order

and that was it: we were
jay
and
silent bob:
(i will always be bob, but i talk too much
you with long blonde hair are so like jay
some think you’re all man)
and shirts and stickers
red with Snootchie Bootchies
that will be made
sometime in the future
(if we ever remember)
remind me of the simpler things we shared
like kevin smith
and fan fiction
and a passion for yaoi
and laughter when you told your parents in meant cat in japanese

you have such a passion for art
in my piles of papers i’ll probably never find
all the art you left littered
around my house
yosho, boa, kim, ryju, noda, kai, drazen and eerie
all peering up at us from white paper and mechanical penciled life
but mike and marco were always my favorites
hey mike meet mike or was it hey marco meet marco?

and somewhere betwixt our sticky bodies on my comfy couch amid the air-conditioned plateau of the apartment with colin farell on the screen tinted by conversations of how i’d no we’d molest him given the chance

we laid pieces of ourselves out to dry

san francisco seems a nice town
far enough away it warrants a drive
to see you
it’s weird to think your leaving: even though i foundout second hand
but i’m leaving too
off to spain to study in august: graduations so close
so it’s not really that much of a difference really
who leaves or stays in this town
its trivial
but on the tenth
san fran will hold the keys
to your new address
and soon after
i’ll be dancing with the
spanish boys in lighted discothèques

it’s not really goodbye
if you don’t mean it
and i don’t
i never will
for two reasons
we’re jay and silent bob: the whole fucking world's against us, dude, i swear to God.
and for everything
we’ve shared
thank you seems
so small in comparison
that it makes me laugh.

I really like this, the personal tone, everything. There are a few problems, some of which uniaeca pointed out. Also, I think you should re-think some parts like
"but i’m leaving too
off to spain to study in august: graduations so close"
It seems too simple and straightforward, make it a bit more interesting. Also, you forgot the apostrophe! You might also want to make it more succint to get the point across more clearly.
Overall, great work, I enjoyed reading it.

Wow.

I really liked that, it was a really good thing for me to read at the moment and I liked how it was written.

A little bit of critique was that I didn't really liked this part:

but for us
we found that common ground
common ground
that between two friends
I don't really think the two common grounds go well.

Also it's the same with:

we found something in common

something more in common
that all the rest:
the favorite movies,

I think:
We found something more in common
than all the rest

Sounds a bit better.

Why should Caesar just get to stomp around like a giant while the rest of us try not to get smushed under his big feet? Brutus is just as cute as Caesar, right? Brutus is just as smart as Caesar, people totally like Brutus just as much as they like Caesar, and when did it become okay for one person to be the boss of everybody because that's not what Rome is about! We should totally just stab Caesar!
